Vasto, Italy: Traboccho Cungarelle
Vasto is a small Italian seaside village on the Adriatic in the Abruzzo region. The trabocchi were created many years ago by the villagers as fishing piers. They are still used by local fisherman but have now been transformed into the most amazing restaurants! A diner walks out along the rickety pier to the restaurant where the waiters just simply begin bringing you course after course of seafood which has been caught and prepared right on the traboccho. The dinner usually consists of eight courses including red or white wine and dessert. It is an amazing experience to go just at sunset.
